April 11, 2024 — Magnesium Capital portfolio company SCADA International, announced its third acquisition this year, by acquiring Hannover-based, Quantec Systems. The Company was founded in 2017 as a software-focused spinout of its predecessor company. Since then, Quantec Systems has established itself as a market leader serving a broad set of customers including renewable asset owners & operators, ISPs and OEMs, and employs a team of renewable energy experts and highly specialized software developers.
Quantec Systems, through its proprietary software solution ClavisTM, provides a mission-critical hardware-agnostic integration interface which enables real-time monitoring of distributed renewable energy assets. The Company’s installed base today stands at over 10,000 assets in Germany and other markets. The acquisition is highly complementary to SCADA International, as it will boost the combined company’s installed base to over 44GWs globally, and comes as a result of SCADA International’s increased focus on expanding its software and digital solution offerings.
SCADA International’s CEO, Thomas Bagger, says: “There is no doubt that our main customers in the industry expect us to deliver solutions across the entire value chain. By bringing in Quantec into the SCADA group and incorporating their 10,000+ connected assets into one combined portfolio, we can bring a broader and more in-depth set of capabilities and knowledge to our customers and, to a greater extent, support customers in the green energy transition”.
In addition to bringing scale and strengthening SCADA International’s technology portfolio, Quantec Systems has demonstrated impressive metrics over the years. The Company is highly profitable with best-in-class margins and contracted recurring revenue, all the while consistently delivering double-digit topline growth. The acquisition will not only scale and significantly add to SCADA International’s technology offering but will also be highly accretive from the outset.
Quantec was founded by visionary technologist, Vincent Kessler, who had this to say about the transaction: “The time had come to find a partner who could take our knowledge and skills to the next level, while allowing room for our innovative approach and visions.
